Open Air Opera Concert

Open Air Opera Concert

The majestic Pamphilj Palace stands tall in the heart of Rome. On its famed Terrace Borromini, named after the palazzo’s lead architect, a very special event takes place: the Open Air Opera Concert. It features some of the greatest arias and duets from the operatic catalogue and showcases masterpieces by Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini, Ruggero Leoncavallo and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in a tasteful arrangement for piano, soprano and tenor.

To keep your spirits high, the evening begins with an aperitif that you can sip throughout the performance. At the end, enjoy a special tour of La Grande Bellezza, the palace’s Baroque terrace as seen in the Hollywood film ‘The Great Beauty’. With its rich and refined programme of drinks, music and sights, the Open Air Opera Concert easily ranks among the classiest events in town!

The evening begins on Palazzo Pamphilj’s Terrace Borromini where you can pick up your aperitivo. You have a choice of prosecco, red wine or non-alcoholic beverages as well as Italian salami and cheese with honey and marmalade. As the Mediterranean flavours dance on your palate, the concert begins. In the crisp open air, opera classics such as ‘Libiamo ne' lieti calici’ from Verdi’s La Traviata, ‘Batti batti bel Masetto’ from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, or ‘E lucevan le stelle’ from Puccini’s Tosca ring with new power and grace. The inspired delivery by the talented tenor, soprano and pianist combine with the aristocratic ambience to create a unique concert atmosphere.

The musical part of the Open Air Opera Concert lasts for about 50 minutes in order to allow you time for the final highlight: the tour of La Grande Bellezza. On this exclusive visit, you can admire the terrace’s fine Baroque style and cast an eye over Piazza Navona. Other ‘great beauties’ you can see from there include Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Pantheon, Castel Sant’Angelo and Trinità dei Monti. You will leave this performance full of wonderful Italian impressions!
